How Long to Cook T-Bone Steak on Stove?

If you are cooking t-bone steak on the stove, it will take about 5-7 mins. on one side and additional 4-5 mins on the other side for a medium-rare steak. You can check the doneness using an instant meat thermometer which should read 125°F. You can add additional 2 mins when cooking the other side and check the doneness using a meat thermometer which should read 130°F for medium steak.

How Long to Cook Ribeye Steak on Stove?

If you are cooking ribeye steak on the stove, it will take about 2-3 mins. on one side and additional 2-3 mins on the other side for a rare steak. You can check the doneness using an instant meat thermometer which should read 120 – 130ºF.

For a medium rare steak, it takes about 3-4 mins. per side and the temperature should reach 130 – 140ºF.

For a medium steak, it will take about 4-5 mins. each side and the temperature should reach 140 – 150ºF.

For a medium well steak, it will take about 5+ mins. each side and the temperature should reach 150 – 160ºF.

How Long to Cook Minute Steak on Stove?

If you are cooking a minute steak on the stove, it will take about 2-3 mins. on one side and additional 2-3 mins on the other side. Don’t overcook the minute steak, you’ll run the risk of toughening the meat.

Tips to Cook Steak on Stove:

  • Don’t slice too much thin steak because it takes a longer time to cook as well as cools down quickly. You can maintain its heat when loosely covering it with foil and letting it rest.
  • Press the steak down as it touches the pan and makes contact with the surface of the pan.
  • Don’t use a non-stick pan because it doesn’t hold enough heat to cook a perfect steak. A Cast iron pan is the best option.
  • If you are using a frozen steak, make sure to thaw it completely.
  • Steak should be seasoned within 3 mins. of touching the pan for more than 40 mins. before you want to marinate the steak.

Cooking steak on the grill is another method to enjoy your delicious steak at home. You just have to preheat the grill from 450ºF to 550ºF. Sprinkle salt and pepper all around the steak and set aside until the grill is hot. Place steak on the grill and sear for about 3-4 mins. Flip the steak and cook for another 3-4 mins.

How Long to Grill Tuna Steaks?
