  1. Step 1.

    Firstly, you have to prepare your vegetables. Cut a large onion into small dice and finely chop 3 garlic cloves along with this. 

    Cut 1 red pepper in half the lengthways, remove the seeds away and chop well. 

  2. Step 2.

    Now, put your pan over medium heat and add 1 tbsp of Olive Oil. Add chopped onions and stir for 5 minutes until you see soft and translucent onion.

  3. Step 3.

    Add chopped garlic cloves, 1 tsp of heaped hot chilli powder, 1 tsp of paprika and 1 tsp ground cumin. 
    Stir all the ingredients and leave it for 3-4 mins and stirring occasionally. 

  4. Step 4.

    Now, turn the heat up and add 500g brown minced beef into a pan break it with your spoon and spatula. 

    Keep stirring for 5 mins. Make sure the heat is enough to fry the meat. 

  5. Step 5.

    Crumble 1 beef stock cube into 300 ml hot water and pour this into the pan with the mince mixture to make the sauce. 

  6. Step 6.

    Add a 400g can of chopped tomatoes. Add 1 tsp of dried marjoram, 1 tsp of sugar, and add a good mixture of salt and pepper. Add about 2 tbsp of tomato puree and stir the sauce well. 

  7. Step 7.

    Now, simmer the flame and let the whole thing boil, give it a good stir, and put a lid on the pan. Turn down the heat until it's gently bubbling and leave it for 20 mins.

  8. Step 8.

    Stir the pan occasionally and make sure that gravy won't stick to the surface of the pan. If you see dryness in your gravy, you can add some tablespoon of water to normalize it. The resulting mixture should look thick, juicy, and moist. 

  9. Step 9.

    Now, take 410g of already rinsed and drained red kidney beans and stir them in a chilli pot. Bring them to boil again for 10 mins until you see bubbles. If it looks too dry then you can add some tbsp of water. 

    Taste a bit of chilli and season. It will probably take a lot more seasoning than you think.  

  10. Step 10.

    Now, replace the lid, turn off the heat and leave your Chilli Con Carne to stand for 10 mins before serving so that all the flavours mix up and make your recipe delicious. 

    Your Easy Homemade Chilli Con Carne is ready to serve. You can serve it with plain boiled long grain rice and sour cream.
